This 1,300,000 square foot project involved total removal and
replacement of the existing roof system. The new roof system consisted
of installing a mechanically attached base ply and installation of a
new two ply modified bituminous Soprema roof system with granulated
surfacing set in alternate applications of type III asphalt.
As the project was located in Kansas City, Missouri and due to its
massive size, it was imperative that the roof application be of the
highest quality. Furthermore, a significant amount of equipment was
transported to Kansas City in order to meet the aggressive schedule for
construction. As reported in NRCA’s “Professional Roofing” magazine,
this project was the largest roofing project in the United States in
1998.
