This
70-year old facility required total reroofing, whereby the upper
build-up roofs were removed and replaced with hot fluid applied
membrane in an IRMA configuration including all lead-coated copper
flashing. The entire perimeter was scaffolded so as to facilitate
removal of the existing clay tile roof installation of ice and
watershield membrane, a new treated wood sleeper system followed by
installation of a new clay tile roof system that included all related
architectural lead-coated copper, closures and flashings. All
construction was completed in a seven-month time frame.
Project was highly visible as the facility is located directly west of
the Capitol. All construction was to be completed prior to the January
2005 Presidential Inauguration.
