The United States Naval Academy conducted a ten year restoration of
Bancroft Hall of which Phase 7, Roof Replacement was included. Project
requirements included removal and replacement of copper built-in
gutters, base flashing, valleys, ridge caps, and hip rolls. Also
included was replacement of all waterproofing underlayment and removal
and replacement of all slate and standing seam copper roof panels.
Stringent safety requirements were a challenge due to 16/12 slopes at
mansard roofs. Coordination between other on-site contractors was
required because of close proximity of working conditions. The project
was given a strict seven month time frame for completion.
