Tecta America Wins National Roofing Contractors Association 2004 Gold Circle Awards For Excellence in Roofing Industry

San Diego, CA. (March 2, 2004) - The National Roofing Contractors Association has announced this year's winners of the 2004 Gold Circle Awards, which recognize NRCA members from around the world for their significant, singular contributions to the roofing industry . Three Tecta America companies were honored with awards at the recently concluded NRCA annual convention. The "Excellence in Roofing Industry Award" was presented to F.J.A. Christiansen Roofing Co. Inc. of Milwaukee and Western Roofing Service Inc. of San Francisco, CA. Magco Inc. of Jessup, MD. was awarded the association's Excellence in Design Award.

F.J.A. Christiansen was selected for their talent in old-world craftsmanship on the Holy Hill Shrine of Mary Church and Shrine. Sitting atop one of the highest points in Wisconsin and in a region where weather is always a factor, the Holy Hill Shrine of Mary has been home to the Discalced Carmelite Friars since 1906. The roofing restoration included asbestos material removal and, because the church is a historic landmark, all copper sheet-metal details were recreated to match the originals.

Magco Inc., was awarded a Gold Circle design award for the unique green roof system installed for the Renaissance Center, in South River Colony, MD. The building now features the largest privately owned, self-funded, extensive green roof system in Maryland. This Green Roof project design made it possible to overcome local ordnances by reducing the need for a larger storm water management system.

Western Roofing Service was recognized for a difficult project that included removing a Japanese roof garden, cedar deck, the underlying concrete topping slab, and roof membrane, and installating the new membrane and reinstallating the garden. The original roof and garden were installed by a Japanese master 40 years ago and are of great historical significance. The work, completed in off hours, was scheduled so as to not disrupt the business activities of the Wells Fargo Bank world headquarters.

These three outstanding roofing contractors were honored for these unique projects and reflect the leadership of all Tecta America Corp. companies. Tecta has grown to become the strongest and most progressive roofing company across the nation and has always been recognized by prestigious industry organizations.
