Two Industry Leaders Contribute Toward Sustainability Efforts

Skokie, IL (March 7, 2011) -- With sustainability at the forefront of their thinking, Dollar General Corporation, the nation's largest small-box discount retailer, has selected CEI Roofing Texas, a Tecta America Company, the nation's largest commercial roofing company, to assist with their recylcing initiatives, which begins with re-roofing their Ardmore Distribution Center located in Ardmore, Oklahoma.  The 1,199,000 sq. ft. facility is the largest of Dollar General's nine distribution centers nationwide, and manages distribution to 1,400 of their stores.  The project will begin in mid-March and is anticipated to be complete by the end of July.

During the re-roof project, existing materials will be recycled, saving hundreds of dumpsters of waste from contributing toward landfill mass.  Leading the re-roofing and recycling efforts for Dollar General are: Rodney Carpenter, Director of Distribution Center Capital Projects; Dicky Melton, Maintenance Manager; and Riley Seals, Distribution Center Manager.

"The opportunity to eliminate waste and reduce our carbon footprint while improving our business is consistent with Dollar General's mission to be socially responsible," said Dollar General's Rodney Carpenter.

Tecta America has partnered with other companies to ensure the most efficient recycling of the material.  More than 38,000 tons of removed ballast will be reused at the Ardmore Municipal Airport.  Mike Power, President at ThermaFoam LLC located in Hillsboro, TX, said his company will reprocess over 1,522,000 board feet of material into foam beads for packaging and other purposes.  And Nationwide Foam, Inc.'s Ken Wardrop will manage the process for recycling the EPDM roofing membrane once removed.

"While the time and equipment required getting the materials ready to be shipped for recycling are significant, the environmental benefits outweigh them," said Ricky Coulter, Project Manager at CEI Roofing Texas, a Tecta America Company.  "Having one of the largest retailers and the largest roofing company in the United States committed to this process is priceless."
